The third CL's release, Pagan Tales, is recorded by Costy with Powell Randolph, Annie Johnson and Steve Stephens. It's a 10-track journey of roots-rock with diverse influence of world music from Britain, Spain, Turkey, Southern States to name a few. The songs alternate from Iberian beat on the "Castle" to a noir-ish waltzer in the "Black Waltzer", and from mid-eastern belly-shaking on the "Shadow" to a celtic war-marching on the "War". The lyrics is filled with acerbic sarcasm. Open guitar tunings, interplay of such instruments as Irish bouzouki and horse jaw make the record sound exotic.
